WE ARE WORKING ON A BRAND NEW WEBSITE FOR OUR CHARITY. THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT BE KEPT UP TO DATE.
PLEASE GO TO WWW.ROCKHALL1807.CO.UK OR OUR ROCK HALL FACEBOOK PAGE TO FOLLOW THE LATEST NEWS ON OUR MASSIVE ROCK HALL PROJECT WHICH WE ARE CONTINUING TO WORK ON IN 2023.
Banana Enterprise Network is a UK registered charity doing things differently in a caring and supportive way!
We originally set up in 2014 to help unemployed people explore the idea of self employment and we gradually expanded our training offer to include other training linked to employment/self employment, business management and planning and personal development training. In 2020, we decided to start our journey to save a Grade 2 listed Historic Hall in Farnworth and after spotting a gap in community activities, we developed some community engagement activities working with trusted partners. Whilst we have not had any former experience of saving and taking on a hertiage building, neither do over 80% of other people who try to do this. Everyone has to start somewhere and once we have been successful with one building, we have the experience to do more. All you need is passion, motivation, reslience, hard work and to surround yourself with people with relevant experience. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Our Charity has supported over 3600 people free of charge since 2014 either through training, support, community activities or provision of free food parcels during covid. We love doing what we do. We dont publicly promote our achievements as much as we could do, but rest assured we are a busy small team working on some amazing projects and making a difference where we can.
Like other organisations, we were affected by Covid 19 lockdown etc and our proposed commercial training work ceased. We still made some progress with our Rock Hall project and in 2021 The National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded us £99,600 for an initial Rock Hall related project. This helped us move closer to saving the Hall as well as providing much needed fun and educational activities for the community. In December 2022 we are awarded £295,000 by the Government's Community Ownership Fund! We are so excited and very grateful to the Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities. They believe in our project and their investment is absolutely fantastic news for our Rock Hall project.
Our Save Rock Hall project is the biggest project we have ever started and there are many hurdles which we are slowly overcoming one by one. We don't know if we will be successful with getting the funding we need eventually, but we are working hard on behalf of the local community and have over 2000 supporters of our Heritage project so far!
DECEMBER 2022 - We are awarded £295,000 by the Government's Community Ownership Fund! We are so excited and very grateful to the Department for Levelling up, Housing and Communities.
September 2022 - Our first attempt at securing funding for Rock Hall further development work, was unsuccessful as the Heritage Fund wanted more information from Bolton Council about their future support of our project. We have been "strongly" urged to reapply. In the meantime, we are still searching for funding to be able to continue the momentum and deliver ativities in the community in Farnworth. Please see www.rockhall1807.co.uk for more details on that project.
