The beginning of the month started with me having to make some difficult decisions for Banana and there were a few sleepless nights, I can tell you. However, those decisions turned out to be the right ones in the circumstances.
Client-wise, we've supported over 50 people from Salford, in just 3 months on our pilot scheme! Imagine how many people we could help if we had the funding to offer the full service?
Some more good news….this month, Forever Manchester accepted our bid for £975. We bought a laptop for use with clients (which has been a great help) and other equipment. You'd have thought we had won the lottery judging by the excitement in our household!
More bids have gone in this month too for the next stage of our growth and now we wait with fingers and toes crossed! Our current funding runs out in June unless our bids are successful, but that doesn't mean the end of Banana - in fact, far from it! I will personally be supporting clients in Salford along with those kind volunteers!. If we are successful with funding though, we can offer a much fuller service once the pilot scheme ends.
It can take many months for funding decisions so we I will search for ways to help my social enterprise, Banana Enterprise Network continue to grow.
More fantastic news is that Banana Enterprise Network has won a couple of contracts. Our first business course filled in just 3 days of promoting it! So that’s very exciting news!
It really is a roller coaster ride managing a social enterprise though and much harder than I expected, but its taught me a lot and you realise who the people you can trust are, and those you need to be wary of!
To those people and organisations who are supporting me personally, I wish to say a heartfelt thank you!
We fill a gap, and we do it well. We care about people, not profits. We are customer led, not target led, we do business in a H2H (Human to Human) way, not B2B or B2C.
I go to sleep each night thinking of the good things I did each day to help people who have a need in the community and how great that makes me feel.
Can you go to bed with such a positive thought for the day?
See you next month!
