Oh my goodness....here I am writing my blog a whole year after I started my charity Banana Enterprise Network! I made it...and in the spirit of Tina Turner, "I have survived" whopeeeeeeeee BUT, its not been easy and its probably going to be harder this year too, but I am not giving up!
I always tell my clients that if you can get over the first year of trading, you are doing really well, so now here we are into our 2nd year! Feeling rather chuffed!
By the end of my first year of providing business start up support, I had supported 291 clients (although I think it could even be more than that - note to self, Jayne you must work even longer hours and get your admin sorted!). So I wonder how many we will support this year?
If I am lucky to find funding to expand, I am pretty sure we would support around 500 people a year. Its all about quality though, and building sustainable businesses of the future. Its not a question of how many people can we start up unlike government funded schemes.
My support service is all centred around the person - we want to grow with our clients, follow them on their journey, experiencing the highs and lows of being in business. Together we will grow and then we can start to give back. That's my personal ambition, i.e. to make enough money so I don't have to worry about keeping a roof over my head and surplus income so that I can give it to people who need it most and who will use it wisely and make a real difference in their community!
My ideal world has no poverty, it also has people who care for each other and support each other, so in 2016 I shall continue building my little world of support, defining new pathways, exploring new opportunities and hopefully making a difference, no matter how small.
See you next month!
