Well, here we are again and what a rollercoaster ride the past few weeks have been!

Coalfield Trust and Booths Foundation both turned us down for funding, despite the success of our pilot programme in Salford for unemployed people!  This was very disappointing news and as a result it will affect our service in Salford. Once again, we are being "held back" due to lack of funders who believe in us and who can see the value of what we do.  All we need is a chance to get established, then I have a self sustainability plan which will come into its own for future and I wont have to write another bid!

Eventually, my dream is to have enough funds coming in, from various sources, so that we can help people financially to start their social enterprise or new business.  Our own network of clients, will grow and give back once they are well established plus we're developing a system which will support any business and take away the often, mundane tasks, so they can concentrate on doing what they do best in their business!

The good news is that we are very grateful to Salford CVS who have awarded us funding to deliver some unique training focussed on self-employment but which is health and well-being related.
Our super new training will be available from January 2016 and we are really excited about it! More info will be given next month!  Thank you Salford CVS for your faith in us!

We have also reached the final stage in a big lottery bid with Gingerbread so we are VERY excited about that, but still have a long way to go yet!

My resilience has been tested to the limit this month and last, to be honest. I work very much alone, doing more or less everything in my charity, whilst also trying to bid for funding enabling me to expand to meet demand.  I work out of my little bedroom at home and work very long hours, but its the clients who appreciate what I do, that keeps me going!  I am motivated by them - they inspire me to go on, despite the barriers to progress and lack of funds.  Our Trustees are great and they do what they can, but really its all down to me to keep going!

I saw a great quote the other day, it said this.. "You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete" !(Buckminster Fuller).    That is my mission!  Existing business start up support services are great for some people, but not others. Most of them are really just "box tickers" because that's the nature of their funded work and the restrictions they have.

We work without restrictions (apart from being restricted by lack of funds enabling us to expand further at the moment!) and do what it takes to provide a service people need.    We care about the people we support - People before Profit, that's Banana Enterprise Network!

So, onwards I go, searching for that elusive core funding which will enable us to establish a full service and put our self-sustainability plan into action!  In the meantime, I am writing and delivering courses in an effort to generate some income for my charity!
